I’m not much of a gardener, but I do love the beauty of plants and flowers.
The Agave plants in my garden grow so fast and so big, their colour is bold and their size dominates the plants around.
The colour of the Agapanthus compliments the green tones of the Agave foliage. Like my garden, I didn’t want this canvas to be overcrowded. I wanted to showcase its beauty and use the calming hues of Spring in Queensland.

On a warm summer day in 2016, I stood out on our deck with a blank canvas in front of me. I was feeling happy and relaxed at the time, and I believe the end product reflects exactly this.

The stunningly simple daisy entangled and entwined by greenery, as far as the eye can see. Many people have told me they wish they could lay in amongst these flowers and get away from everyday life, in total silence.
This painting was a personal challenge in many ways, but it also created an escape. I found myself getting lost in the softness and depth of what I was creating, and it took my mind away from reality each time I worked on it.

One of my earliest memories is of picking Snow Drops in the paddock next door to our home in Macarthur, Victoria, with a little boy named Dragon. (I called him Draggy). It was an early, frosty and cold, crisp kind of morning. My hands were cold. I was 3 years old. Snow drops are my favourite flower, probably because they are associated with such a wonderful memory. I often wonder what ever happened to Draggy?
